Born and raised in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, but currently lives in North West River for the last 30 plus years.
I worked for 5 years with Sealand Helicopters in Goose Bay as a supply technician and radio operator until Sealand closed their Labrador operations in 1980. In March of 1980 I took a job with the Department of National Defense at 5 Wing Goose Bay as a supply technician and worked for 36 years with 444 Squadron (Search and Rescue) until my retirement in 2016. Since then, I have worked in various jobs around town; Nunatsiavut Tourism (Torngat Coordinator), Nortrax (now Brandt) supply, Muskrat Falls (supply), Happy Goose Car Wash (manager), and currently Nunatsiavut medical driver (part time/call in).
Over the years I have been a volunteer in many different organizations and groups. I spent 26 years as a volunteer firefighter in NWR reaching the rank of Captain. I volunteered for 14 years with the NWR Beach Festival committee (entertainment committee). I coordinated the NWR Winter Games Team for 14 years (6 games). I served as Vice-President of my UNDE local (union) for 4 years when I worked at 5 Wing Goose Bay. I served for 4 years as an EAP agent (Employee Assistance Program) when I worked at 5 Wing Goose Bay. I spent 14 years on the Occupational Health and Safety Committee at 5 Wing Goose Bay. I served 4 years as webmaster for the Labrador Heritage Society in NWR. I currently volunteer as the treasurer and bingo caller for the NWR 50 Plus Group since 2019. And just this year I have become a member of my local town council.
I was first elected to Them Days Board of Directors in March 2015. Served as Vice-Chair and Chair for a few years. I was on the Executive committee (chair/vice-chair), HR committee, archives committee, and finance committee.
