Them Days has launched a photo-identification project, the Labrador Image Identification and Dissemination Initiative (or ID Them Days for short). With this project, we hope to identify names, dates, and places for as many of our unidentified photographs as possible. (We estimate this to be over 12,000 images.)
To reach our goals, we hired a Master of Folklore co-op student, Terra Barrett, as our project researcher. After her term was up, we knew there was still much work to be done. Pei Li (who was our co-op student when we were working on Grub) was hired for a one-year term to build on Terra’s success with this project. Pei dug through the archives, matched duplicated photos, scanned images, met with community members, and travelled across Labrador to name the people in these photographs. Our summer students have also provided a great deal of assistance. Shane Heard picked up on the project following Pei.
If you are interested in helping out, please contact the office. If you are not nearby and would like to track the progress of the project or provide assistance in naming our photographs, follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, or read the blog. We post three photos a week (#MysteryMonday, #WhereIsItWednesday, #FlashbackFriday) on social media.
