Sam Saunders

Born in Hamilton Village now called Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Sam Saunders is a grandson of the late Gilbert Saunders, one of the founders of the village. He worked two years with USAF in Goose Bay; is a past Treasurer of Labrador Heritage Society, a past researcher with the Labrador Resources Advisory Council, and worked for 32 years as Fisheries Officer from coast to coast. He has also spent time trapping on Grand River. Sam has been active with Church volunteer positions: Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, and Director. Presently, he is also active with the Jimmy Pratt Outreach Centre, and the Grand River Keepers as Director. He is also a commissioned Law Minister with the Moravian Church. Sam is interested in photography and the history of the Big Land, and he enjoys the outdoors, reading history.
