Boarding/Residential Schools List

Them Days is compiling a list of students who lived in dorms at Nain, Makkovik, North West River, Muddy Bay, Cartwright, Mary’s Harbour, St. Anthony, or any other school. If you would like to add your name, or the name of a relative to the list, please fill in this form and send it to us. Participation is voluntary but much appreciated. All fields are optional; fill in what you know or are comfortable with sharing. Your contributions will help to tell a more complete story of the schools. For information on how this list will be used, please read the article in Them Days Vol. 45, No. 4. For an in-depth history about the schools, we suggest reading Andrea Procter’s A Long Journey: Residential Schools in Labrador and Newfoundland (Memorial University Press). Dr. Procter has generously donated her prize monies and royalties from the book to Them Days, to aid in the compilation of this list.
