For decades, Them Days has provided employment and mentorship to young people looking to gain experience in the heritage, publishing, archival, charitable, and new media fields. Each summer, we hire between one to four young workers, and frequently host internships and work placements throughout the school year (dependent on funding). We encourage interested applicants to get in touch at any time throughout the year. Whether you are looking for your first job or a final work term for a graduate degree, Them Days has opportunities to suit your needs. Youth gain experience in the field, and are mentored throughout the work term on their goals both in the job and outside, such as education and other opportunities.
Testimonials
But don’t just take our word for it…listen to what our former employees have to say!
Them Days was my first ever job, and the experience will always stick with me. During the summer I helped digitize the library and spent a lot of time adding new materials and researching in the archives. Aimee was always helpful and she taught me the ins and outs of working in the field. I learned how to be independent and work towards my own goals, skills that I still discuss in my job interviews today.
Grace / Former Archival Assistant
Working at Them Days gave me the opportunity to learn about my home and about who I was. My 2024 summer position as editorial assistant gave me time for growth and taught me that each story has importance to what makes up Labrador, including my own. It truly is a hard working team I had the privilege of joining, even if only for a little while.
Emily / Former Editorial Assistant
As a co-op student in 2016, I had a truly rewarding work term with Them Days. Collaborating with the staff, we produced a special issue titled Grub! During my time there, I researched Them Days’ archival collections, interviewed Labradorians, transcribed oral histories, and had the chance to travel across Labrador. This experience not only deepened my knowledge of Labrador but also allowed me to develop and hone valuable skills in the heritage field. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity and was thrilled to return in 2018 for a longer contract.
Pei / Former Editorial Assistant and Project Researcher
My work term with Them Days was one of the highlights of my folklore master’s degree. I spent four months in Labrador working on the #IDThemDays project. This project saw me working directly with community members to identify details of previously unknown photographs. While I was based in Happy Valley-Goose Bay I also had the opportunity to travel to Nain, Natuashish, Cartwright, and North West River. I attended the Labrador Winter Games, and a MANL workshop on preserving textiles. If you are contemplating working with Them Days — do it! I gained invaluable experience as a researcher with Them Days.
